Anthro inspired pom pom wreath

2:11 am by kim 11 Comments

Hi everyone and Merry Christmas!
Just had to share with you my anthropology inspired wreath!
I’m sure many of you have seen different versions of this anthro inspired pom pom wreath
making it’s way around blogland.
I was smitten as soon as I saw it and had to try out my own version.

Never made a pom pom in my life, but it looked so easy, just wrapped some yarn around my fingers,
tied a knot, cut the ends and voila.
I just did that about sixty more times, bahaha!
I wrapped an old foam wreath base I had with some white ribbon to hide
the green base and used floral pins to place each pom pom.
There are many different ways to make these wreaths, but this way worked well for me.
It really was easy!

I placed a bow on it using some scrap red toile fabric I had.
It’s the fabric left over from making the curtains you see here
in the breakfast nook.
I’ve used some red accents to liven up my Christmas decor this year and
I’m loving it…so festive!

The wreath looks great without the bow too and goes so well with the birch.
I’ll be able to keep this wreath up well into the winter season!

Jennifer Rizzo has done a great post on how to make mini pom pom wreaths
that are adorable, you can find it here.

Thanks for dropping by,
be blessed!

Christmas 2012

9:54 pm by kim 15 Comments

Hi everyone,
I’m hoping all your Christmas preparations are going well!
I’ve been waiting on some good lighting to be able to shoot some pics but it’s
been so grey around here and then it’s almost dark at 4!
Anyways…here are some shots I took today.

Hubby went a little crazy with the saw this year and I had a lot of space under the tree
so I used an old red toile curtain panel as a tree skirt and placed all my lanterns around it.

I placed my buckets that usually flank the fireplace in each of the bookcases. They look great there
and save some floorspace around the fireplace.

The Buckets with the branch lights on/off.

In the breakfast nook I put up some garland on the botttom shelf again. I found some lovely old tarnished spoons at the GW
and tied them with some brown satin ribbon.

I have these little mercury glass containers that I filled with foam oasis and stuck
in some winter greens. The watered oasis foam keeps them fresh.

I have a brown theme going on in the breakfast nook but couldn’t restrain myself from
putting in a little red,  It’s so bright and festive!

I’ve just added some sugar pinecones and mercury glass ornaments to the shelves.
The candle holders are all from PB that my daughters got me a couple of years ago.
They go with everything
I’ve placed birch poles all around and added some more green with the paperwhites.

Hopefully it will be brighter tomorrow and I’ll be able to show you
the mantels.

Thanks for dropping by,
blessings to you!

12:16 am by kim 7 Comments

Hi everyone!
Just giving this blogger app a try on my phone, not sure how it will work out. Already can see that you can’t center your content.
So here goes, please forgive if it looks all wonky!
I Wanted to show you my Christmas “bucket” in the bookcase. I usually have these flanking my fireplace but thought I’d mix it up!
Blessings my friends!
