Very pinteresting kitchen inspiration…

11:41 pm by kim 11 Comments

Hey everyone!
I’ve finally got on the the pinterest wagon! I know, I know, what’s taken  me so long? Lol.
All I can say is “Awesome”!
What a wealth of inspiration, from design to travel to makeup…love it all.
During my “holiday hiatus” I’ve been working on (mostly ruminating over, lol) sprucing up my kitchen and breakfast nook namely with new lighting, possible paint and or soft furnishing changes.
Pinterest has been a little inspiring.

Here is a pic of the kitchen and nook.
When we finally took the plunge to paint those cabinets I swore that I would get rid of that
“boob” light…eventually
(If anybody out there is a lover/owner of boob lights please don’t be offended!)

You can get a glimpse of the little chandelier I have over the nook area. Cute and only $15 from a thrift store, but this and the “boob” light are the only lighting in this area and is just not enough.
Something’s gotta go!

My kind of colors

Look at the lighting in this pic from pinterest. Love the pot lights and beautiful hanging chrome fixtures and  ohh my…that blue/grey colour on the bottom cupboards!

Perfection

Really liking the pot lighting in this pic.
I find pot lighting shines down and really makes the metals and glass in the space sparkle.

Yeah, I know… lol!
Vintage cupboards, Island, baskets, beautiful chandelier.
Very inspirational isn’t it?

Well, the new lighting is up and I’m just deciding on a candelabra for the nook, I’ll hopefully have something posted about that this week.

And then the age old question: Lose the curtains or the wallpaper? Lol.

What’s inspiring you?

Noooooo don't lose the wallpaper! I popped over to your blog the other day to figure out if you used wallpaper or stenciled the wall in your kitchen. 🙂 I love it! So many people are stenciling right now to get the absolute same look as your wallpaper. I just saw it on 2 or 3 popular blogs in the past month.

I, too, love your wallpaper! I studied and studied it before doing a stenciling project… Your kitchen has always been one of my "inspiration" photos. Thanks for coming back to blogland. It's wonderful to hear from you.

I haven't started pinning because I know it would eat up all my time! You have some great images here though. I have boob lights and don't like them at all. I love the pendant lights in the first pic. We just renovated our kitchen and are now working on the family room. I'm hoping it's all done soon!

We share very similar tastes! I also pinned that fabulous kitchen with the chrome lights and grey cabinetry.

I love your wallpaper! In fact, I love your kitchen!

I too love your wallpaper!!! Your kitchen always looks lovely. I know what you mean about pot lights though. We put them in our kitchen and I love them. The light is beautiful from them. I think the pot lights work the best as perimeter lighting. You can add pendants over an island or peninsula, or sink, and undercabinet lighting on the upper cabinets. That way you can have 3 types of lighting you can use individually or all at once. Glad to have you back blogging.

Your ideas are so inspiring!! I love your kitchen but I know what you mean about not having enough lighting. We put pot lights around the perimeter of our kitchen and the difference is amazing. I can actually see what I am doing!!! I love your wallpaper also. It is a beautiful backdrop to your white dishes. Thanks for always being an inspiration.
